Provider Spotlight: Bob Puckett, MFT

This month's spotlight provider is Bob Puckett, MFT in Portland, OR. In his client-centered practice, Bob utilizes various techniques and tools to meet each client’s needs at that moment. He recognizes that the needs and tools will change over time as the client progresses in their healing.

Bob completed his undergraduate work in Washington before moving to California in 1993 and completing his graduate work in clinical psychology at Antioch University. After a few years working in San Francisco, Bob headed north again, landing in Portland in 2017.

Focusing on Relationships

In his work with individuals and couples, Bob helps clients work through the important relationships in their lives. These relationships may be with parents, partners, friends, or even themselves.

Bob recognizes that insights and behaviors are not the same things. That is, people may see where their difficulties lie, but they aren’t able to change the behaviors that contribute to the challenges. They have come to him because they desire to experience change but aren’t sure how to make it happen.

Honoring Each Journey

Bob Puckett works with individuals and couples.

Each client has their own reasons for seeking support, and Bob honors every path. Some people are reclaiming their lives after experiencing trauma. Some are working to change and update old coping mechanisms. And some are ready to be more intentional and conscious in their choices and behaviors. For many people, there is some combination of all of these things.

Bob particularly enjoys working with older adults who are digging in deep to understand their decision-making and ongoing behaviors. He recognizes that joining these clients on their journey is an honor and a privilege.

A Diverse Practice

It’s important to Bob that his practice is accessible and inclusive. To that end, he does accept insurance so that more people can seek the help and support they deserve. He doesn’t want to be a boutique therapy practice that only serves those with means.

Licensed in both Oregon and California, Bob can see a diverse clientele. He offers both virtual and in-person appointments to further boost the accessibility of his care.

And how does a therapist who spends their days taking care of others practice self-care? Bob enjoys being outside as much as possible. Whether he’s running, hiking, or kayaking, being outdoors is his favorite spot to be.

You can connect with Bob by email at bobpuckettmft@gmail.com to set up an appointment and learn about insurance coverage.
